Bushmaster - step I - Not sure what bit me!

In pursuit of an optimal approach for my new collage technique, and having nothing to lose, I decide to tackle the infamous Bushmaster... sort of akin to jumping off a plane without a "chute"...

At this stage, I'm only blocking the canvas as fast as I can to get closer to a workable image.

American portrait final... Further exploring a new technique!

Not having much time to paint these days, I finished this one in spurts...

With this second painting, I accomplished one more step towards the fine tuning of this new collage technique for me. The roughness of the finish appeals to me as I'm progressing slowly into the world of deconstruction!

American portrait -step I... Another one that I need to get out of my system!

Today, I started a subject that has been lingering for a while in my mind...

It all started when I laid my eyes on a book on Santa Fe art featuring works from Fritz Scholder. This painting is meant as an homage to him.

Experiment II final - The beginning of a new stream of works!

With final coats, I reinforced contrasts and borrowed from the street to add interest to this piece..

Looks like this is an avenue worthy of further exploration in 2013!

Experimentation II step I - Going rogue on rag!

Capitalizing on a roll of canvas that was too textured for my current techniques, I obliterated with black my previous failed painting and proceeded with a collage leveraging "canvas over canvas"...

Deconstruction using the support is a last frontier for me. One  more step should bring me where I want to be. I see great potential for this deconstruction approach in 2013.
