Venus and the red planet - step I... Still at it!

I took some time today to start a new painting to see how far I could go with soot alone as underpainting. I realized quickly that using ivory black and then charcoal black was the only way to get where I wanted rapidly...

I finished this first step on the grass, in order to stick around with our grand kids...

I took the opportunity to do my own version of "Déjeuner sur l'herbe"!
